I was invited to join Twitter yesterday by an old work mate...From what I can gather Twitter is a social network who's only feature allows users to say what you're currently doing, which seems pretty similar to Facebook's Status.
Well I signed up as it only takes a minute or two and posted my first "What are you doing?" message (I was very tempted to say Status!). Needless to say I bored relatively soon afterwards...
If you want to checkout my message, despite it probably never being updated again, go to http://twitter.com/mc_hammertime/
I think it's safe to say that this will never catch on...Maybe it would seem better, more useful or popular if it was released before Facebook or Facebook didn't have a 'Status' feature...
If you create an account add me, my username is mc_hammertime =P
P.S. despite getting in relatively early in the take up I was still unable to secure the username mcollins - damn it!
I was down in Canberra recently to celebrate an early Christmas with half of my extended family... Unfortunately, no one from my immediate family was able to make it.
After lunch:
The next day I took the scenic drive back via Boral...I always thought there was more in Bowral...
I really liked James Blunt's first album but I thought his follow up single, '1979' was "okay"... But I'm loving the second single, 'Same Mistake' off 'All The Lost Souls'
With our faithful Bible Study leaders overseas we decided to make last Tuesday the last Bible Study of the year... No doubt through lack of ideas we decided to do the usual end of year social and go Ten Pin Bowling at Hornsby.
With several of our members sick, including one in hospital with appendicitis, our number had slowly dwindled down from 3, just Ty, Tommy and myself.
When paying we had to explain that we had originally booked two lanes for 12 but we had only 3 people...The guy found it funny and said "that's a pretty poor effort".
We played two games...Ty won the first game with 141, I had a respectable 129...Ty won the second game with 109 after Tommy lead most of the game...I had a poor 91.
This photo is from halfway through the first game...note the new feature of how fast the ball goes in the top right corner:
Afterwards we pumped our free tokens into Time Crisis 2 and came pretty close to finishing it!
Despite a small turnout the night was still pretty fun...And it was a great BS year!
A friend from Bible Study's little brother brought back a Fender Strobe-E Keychain Tuner. It's a little strobe light that pulsates at the same frequency as the low E string on a guitar...
Who does it work? A guitar string vibrates, in circles, at different frequencies; so if the E string is tuned correctly, under a strobe light at the same frequency, the string will appear stationary. When the string is out of tune you should be able to see it vibrating. It takes me back to my glorious physics days of watching waves in water with a strobe light...I love physics, it's just so real!
Basically I want one! So who's going to get it for me?
After Wal talking people taking photos of the hail today...I thought I'd post some random photos from a sudden and very uneventful hail storm that hit earlier today...
Minty hiding in my computer room:

(It looked bigger in real life!)

***Update: apparently my 'uneventful' storm was quite bad out west***
I saw Snow Patrol's "Open Your Eyes" video clip this morning and I've always wondered where the footage came from... Was it shot years ago? Was it filmed on a set? Was it filmed on normal roads under normal conditions? Did they close off the roads? Etc.
Here's the film clip:
Well I did a search on the net today to find out that they used part of an 8 minute movie called "C'était un rendez-vous" which translates to "It was an appointment". It was shot through the streets of Paris in 1976. Apparently, it was filmed on 'open' roads and the maker, Claude Lelouch, was arrested when it was first released but later released without any charges.
It sort of reminds me of the "Getaway in Stockholm" videos:
This would have to be one of the coolest designed websites I've seen for a while, www.xy-1.com. They're a Web Design, Graphic Design and Short Film (Video Clips and Ads) company based in Sydney.
Sure the design wouldn't work well for a lot of websites but I love the uniqueness and simplicity to the it all...very cool!
